Version 1.1 - 2011-01-18 Never break anyone else's structures. 1.1) Accidental damage Did a creeper surprise you when you were checking out someone else's structure? You have a couple options: Fix it, re-protect the area, or leave a note and materials to help fix. This is analogous to not leaving your dog's crap on other people's lawns, or bashing in their mailboxes. If you're causing creeper holes all over the place, you may want to consider not going out at night, getting some weapons, and generally learning the game better. Sure it happens, they're sneaky, but you can avoid them and kill them with a little attention. If you cause damage and then can't sign back on, jump over to the forum and the let the owner know! 2) No thieves Most players are cool with sharing supplies. Just ask first, and repay any debts. If someone is building something for you, offer them materials to help (if not working on project together.) Don't take without asking except at the spawn point. 3) Close doors! If you open a door, make sure it's shut behind you. Nothing more annoying than finding mobs wandering in your secure area. 4) Trespassing People are protective of their stuff and their work with good reason. People also like to show it off. If you come to a steel door, or a sign indicating no trespassing: don't go in. Wait till the owner is on and ask for a tour. 5) Aesthetics We don't all like the same thing. Someone thinks your house is ugly. The beauty of this is, you're entitled to having an ugly house. You're allowed to build ugly things however: 5.1) Don't stress out your neighbors If someone has a claim/building near where you want to build, ask permission. Especially if you're in their field of view (windows/towers/lookouts) They may already have plans for that area. The map is huge, with plenty of awesome countryside. We will be adding warp zones to various areas, so don't worry about being too far away from spawn (also, quit dying.) 6) Claims Check the map, if no one has a building or sign there it's first come first serve, but you must have a plan for what you want to build there. No expeditions to lay claim signs in a land grab. Post a thread here about what you want to do with the area so we know what's up. Someone may want to help! 7) Signs Signs show up on the map, so are very handy to figure out where you are underground (or above ground if you've gone far.) So far we have two categories of signs. Waypoints and Regions. Waypoints should be used on travel routes (water, rail, tunnel,) Regions are to name areas. Start a sign with way: or reg: for them to show on the map in these categories. You can name regions if you discover them or they are unnamed. 8) Acceptance Once you've read over these rules post an intro thread in the general forum. Say who you are, what your screen name is, and anything else you want to share. Maybe where you're from, what you do, what you want to build. |
