Here's what I use to record my guitar parts (when my computer is functioning):

Cheap Behringer Eurorack - $69 or so
Shure SM57 or 58 (or if I feel like dragging it out, one of my condensor mics) - $99 - $575, depending on the mic
RCA to 1/8" stereo cable - $5

You wouldn't necessarily need the mic on the Tak, but having a mic run on left channel and the preamp from the Tak on the right gives you something to play with and mix. I believe Garage Band will let you record two channels at a time, so for one channel, select R and for the other, L. Or you can mix from the board and take it into one stereo channel on Garage Band.

You can also buy less expensive mics from MF and elsewhere, but some of them aren't that great. The MXL condensors are cheap and decent.

I also have a dedicated card that is still in my other computer, and I have a breakout box for it, and I use preamp boxes, etc for that one. I believe it goes to 24 bit 96000Hz and will take 4 simultaneous inputs. I also have a crap MAudio FastTrack that I don't recommend--very limited box.

Oh, you could probably also run your guitar into your Ultrasound and I think this DS4 still has RCA or at least 1/4 outs on it (although no longer in stereo like on the previous model). You might be able to run that into the computer--not sure if the levels are line level or not in this version.

BTW: Some big company bought Ultrasound and they are discontinuing the DS4 only 1 year after it was released. A drag.
