A-Kon 2007

This weekend Leah and I went to the 18th A-Kon. I think it was much better than last year, but a big part of that was due to us staying within walking distance of the event instead of commuting in. They seemed a lot more organized this year, and even though there were 8000+ people, most of the lines we ended up in moved fairly quickly.

We went to a bunch of panels, got to see Funimation’s commissioned Mushishi art that will be raffled at AX, talked with some manga writers, laughed at some voice actors, and watched a few shows. We got a bit of con swag too. Leah found a pair of plushies from Ahita no Najda, and a cool little sushi-seal with a shrimp on it’s head (?!) I got a Beer-chan shirt, and a manga (signed by the author!)

There were a lot of great costumes, I’ll put up some pictures in a day or two. Ouran High School Host Club seemed to be “THE” thing to be dressed up as this year. We saw half a dozen groups and a lot of lone Haruhis.

Now it’s back to “life as usual,” whatever that is :) If there’s anything consistent about my life, I think it’s that it’s NOT very usual.

Update: Some photo highlights.
