I am an internet dinosaur

I was browsing through some stats on this blog here and it came to my attention that I have been writing little updates on web pages (blogging as you kids are calling it now,) for slightly over ten years.

TEN YEARS

Makesitgood.net was registered in 2001, but previous to that I had maintained various other “home pages,” that I would update with news of my life, thoughts, silly quotes by me and friends, etc. My first “homepage” ever was made in 1994. This was before the first official standard for HTML even came out. Oddly the first official HTML standard was 2.0… somehow that seems fitting.

Up until around 96 or 97 you couldnt have called any of my pages blogging. They weren’t dynamic. After that, they most certainly were. I’ve been ahead of the curve on a lot of Internet trends, I had a fully automated internet radio station in 97, but this one is actually surprising me. Maybe it’s because I never thought it was really anything that special, but now that blogging has been a buzzword for a couple years I’m noticing more.

Where did it all go? I’ve been good enough to keep moving/exporting/importing the bulk of my databases over the years, but I seem to have lost almost all the various designs. It’s strange because I distinctly remember keeping these things saved, moving them between computers time and time again, and yet they’re no where to be found. Looking through The Internet Wayback Machine I can see the structure of some of the past pages, and some content, unfortunately most of the graphics are lost. It’s a shame, I had some really darn good designs.
