A child named Lily

I had a dream I was taking a calculus class. It wasn’t a school class, kind of a work extra curricular. In the class was a young girl, with raven dark hair. She was obviously a prodigy of some sort, keeping up with the adults in calculus. I befriended her, at least to a degree. I got to know a bit of her, she was standoffish, not rudely so, but more like she didn’t feel quite safe talking to others regardless of who they were.

I came to learn she worked for a software company I always admired. That she was to be adopted because her original father was abusive, but that the paperwork hadn’t gone through yet and she was biding her time. She also knew how to drive, despite being 10 years old.

I came in the next day and she wasn’t there. I came to find out that she, her new adoptive father, and brother were killed the night before. I was completely devastated. I remember walking around, going to the scene and just collapsing from grief. At the scene I found three plants. They seemed like some sort of blooming water plants, but were out of place because they were sitting un potted on a wooden deck.

I was approached by someone else visiting the scene. A gaunt middle aged woman who told me that if I wanted to see her again I had to talk to Eric, but I wouldn’t want to talk to Eric. I didn’t care, and demanded she tell me how to call him, but she would not. I went back to the office, and asked everyone if they knew an Eric that might have some connection to the girl. Eventually one fellow did know and I convinced him to take me to him. He transformed into a Raven and flew me to an abandoned house.

After our arrival Eric showed up along with a host of others. Many warned me against the path I was about to undertake. I wasn’t sure what they were talking about entirely, but was adamant to proceed. Through some for of magic or supernatural power they contacted the world of the dead. It was rather terrifying but I managed to endure. At the end of the processes I was given a single bulb and it was planted with care in the front yard of the abandoned house. I was then given a bill for $300,000 which I had two years to pay. I collapsed from exhaustion and slept through the night at the abandoned house.

The next day I filled out the paperwork to adopt the girl, Lily, now returned to the world of the living.
