Alien zombie invasion

I woke up to the sound of sirens and gunfire. There was an announcement coming across the EBS to avoid contact with the invaders at all cost.

Wait a minute… what invaders?

As I rubbed the sleep from my eyes I tried to interpret the noise coming out of the CNN anchor’s mouth. It sounded like gibberish to me. After a bit of pinching, stretching, slapping, and water splashing I came to the conclusion that I was hearing the words I thought I was.

“… started arriving approximately 5 AM eastern standard. There has been no in person sighting of the flying vehicles yet, but they have appeared on radar at several local airports. Not much is known about the creatures other than they are slow but EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. They appear t have strength disproportionate to their size by human standards, and closer to that of insects. Wooden structures are little to no barrier to them. Seek cover in storm shelters, concrete, or steel buildings with as few windows as possible. If you have the means, arm yourself and be prepared to use lethal force to protect yourself and your loved ones…”

Well, shit!

I showered and got dressed. No sense starting off the end of the world as a mess, right? Yeah well, sometimes I can be an idiot. By the time I was dressed, I could see some of them up the street. It didn’t take long for them to make their way to the house and begin breaking in. It felt like Shaun of the dead. I climbed out through the back window and ran up into a small grove of trees to hide. Then I realized I had forgotten my wallet.

It’s funny what seems important sometimes.

So I broke back into the house, went to my room and grabbed my wallet. The creatures were no where to be seen. I set out East, towards town but via backroads and wooded areas so that I could have a better chance at hiding if I needed to.

Eventually I found a large group of normal human-type people. They had set up a camp in a school building, and were guarding the perimeter. I got recruited to be in a scouting party, and given a glock. We decided to head out at night and try to find if the AliZombies were intelligent and organizing or if they were more like wild animals.

After a hike of a few miles we came upon a large bonfire surrounded by the creatures. They seemed to be fighting amongst themselves. They were obviously somewhat intelligent, but their organization and structure was next to nothing. This got our hopes up. We hurried back to our camp to report. Just as we were approaching we saw a bright light in the sky. Within a few second there was a deafening boom and the auditorium of the school building was gone.

That’s when I woke up.
