This accent is horrible
I can’t shake it, I don’t do it mainly during most of the day, but as I get tired or if I have a drink or two it comes right out. Leah’s taken to saying “I won’t be married to a brit.” I’m sure it will pass soon or she’ll get used to it.
Today we concluded the conference, and it just happened to be the best of them in 14 years. I attended a few of the sessions in full today, instead of just popping in for shots. Saw a brilliant short lecture by a neuro-linguistic programmer, Terry’s presentation (which I felt he delivered quite well,) and an end panel. I snapped another 3 gigs of photos today, 2 at the conference, and once just around London as we went out to dinner (Hard Rock Cafe,) and sillyness. We had the best waiter ever, Terry and I both wanted to bundle him up and take him back to the states with us. He took a picture of us, and I of him which are posted below.
Tomorow we’re taking the Marlybone line out to Warwick. There we’ll explore the castle for a few hours, and then meet up with some friends that live in that neck of the country for dinner. We’ll then catch one of the last trains back into London and crash for the night. We’ll be heading back to Dallas at 2:20pm GMT, to arrive at 6:30pm CDT. It’s a 10 hour flight, but we gain 6 hours via the westward flight so it’s effectively 4 hours. If we count the missed time that doubles our speed! Too bad it doesn’t actually work that way.
I met a lot of very interesting people this week, many of which I’ve been working with off and on over the past year, many for the first time. I do believe it’s the best group of business people I’ve ever met, but I guess that’s to be expected at an international conference of global leaders in the industry.
A Brittish subway commercial just aired. That’s just wierd.

Was the Subway commercial the ‘Dinner Theater’ guy putting on that horrible-fake British accent, saying .. Subway, Eat Fresh! Or did they go for the American accent?
I always thought it was funny that here in the US, they often use a British accent to grab your attention, or claim something is better or high class … but in the UK, they sometimes use an American accent to do the same thing. I think its funniest when they use a southern accent.
I think its so funny in the US when products say, ‘New Euro Design’. What does that mean? It looks good, but doesn’t work well? German enginneering obviously has a different meaning.
Why not, American Innovation, German Engineering, UK Design, Japanese Manufacturing, and Swiss Ownership. Now that’s a product.

Subway commercial guy is Jon Lovitz, who’s a Saturday Night Live alumn from the 1980’s. He had a character called “Master Thespian” which was excessively over the top, but I thought it was funny. Guess Subway figured it was funny too and brought that character out of moratorium for their commercials.
And I prefer seeing Italian Design on a car as opposed to British Design. Italians make very pretty cars, they just don’t run worth a crap. And before I get any arguments, Lamborghinis, Ferraris, etc. are not considered good daily drivers. They’re in the shop too much getting tweaked. I’d rather save a ton of dough and get a Porsche.

No guys, this wasn’t the commercial they’ve been airing in the states all year, it was just a standard show the sandwhich commercial and extoll it’s values, but very very brittish.
