Posh? That’s not posh… this is Posh.

Tonight I had the best Chinese food I’ve ever had in my life. I’m not certain how authentic it was, but all the staff seemed to be chinese/english at least. There were three courses, and then dessert, which was refreshingly fresh fruit and nothing else. I wish more restaurants did that.

There were about 14 bottles of wine. I’m not sure on the exact number. I’m not sure anyone is. It’s not polite to speak about how much was spent, so I’ll be vague and say that I’m pretty sure I’ve never spent 1/30th that amount on a meal, counting the Indian from Tuesday night. I think each bottle of wine was $50-100 in and of itself.

The company was exceptional. Everyone was very friendly, personable, and funny, even though many of them I had just met Monday for the first time. At my table there were people from England, Scotland, Canada, Australia, the Netherlands, the USA, and Texas. 7 Nations! I have a lot of pictures from the evening I will never post online. I assure you they’re spectacular.

Ben, I took 4 gigs of photos today, though 3 of them were inside the hotel and nothing you’d really be interested in. There were 4 other photographers at the conference today, 3 of them shot Canon, one shot Nikon. One was rubish, but the other two were great blokes. I had some camera envy as the nicest fellow had a 5D and 1Ds as well as a 24-70f2.8L and a 70-200f2.8LIS. If you’re not a photographer feel free to ignore that least sentence or three.

I forgot to mention that I’m speaking in a psuedo english accent that I can’t seem to stop. I’m not pronouncing things quite english, but I am speaking in the rythym, inflection, and intonation. Leah and Christy are already making fun of me for it. I no longer am annoyed at Madonna for her accent. I think if I lived here another week I’d have it too.

I’d like to be alseep now but I have to empty all my CF cards so I can take photos again at the conference tomorow. I’m hoping this laptop isn’t stolen, because the loss of what will probably be close to 20 gigs of photographs might just send me over the edge. Maybe I can remove the hard drive and put it in my carryon.

Once I have some of the cards emptied I’ll update this entry with a picture or two of the evening.

Sounds like you’ve been having a good time over there. I totally get what you mean about the accent. I pick it up pretty fast as well. Heck, I just start a conversation with a Brit that is hanging out over on this side of the pond and I’ll slip into it myself. Or I watch too much Coupling, either one will cause me to talk differently.

Look forward to your photos from the trip. What was the Nikon guy shooting? D2X? D200? just curious of course.

btw, can’t take the laptop on the plane? I guess London is still all freaked out about hand luggage?

He was shooting a D2X, and had I think an SB800 flash on top. Not sure what the lens was, I think it was from the wide-normal range zoom, and looked fast (large front element.) I would tell you more but the fellow didn’t speak much english. He was there to take photos of a Taiwanese delegate that won an award. Friendly but hard to communicate with.
