Use the BBB
Cingular called me just now and apologized.
That was just about a week I think from when I filed a complaint with the BBB–I didn’t request the BBB take any action against cingular, and did note that they had resolved my problem. Pretty impressive this day and age, I’m glad it still works. Now I just wish more companies actually particpated.
Got a real problem, please don’t hesitate to use the BBB’s online form. If it’s a landline telco you can probably talk to your state’s public services commission and get things done even better and faster, but we as consumers really need to stop letting these companies walk all over us.

Awesome, man. I’ve never used the BBB for complaints and whatnot, but I have called the Insurance Commissioner’s office and pitched a bitch over some work-related injuries. A week nothing, the next morning I got a phone call from someone within the company’s insurance provider willing to bend over backwards to take care of my bill. It seems they didn’t realize that I had two claims in the span of 6 months. Sad thing is, my dad was the one getting the harassing phone calls from the hospital to pay up for my emergency room visit.

Good advice! I will absolutely use them next time. It’s time to take back sanity.
