Bootlegs getting into discount stores?
I was at Big Lots today and noticed they had some super cheap DVDS, $2.99-$4.99. I was looking through and noticed Hellraiser. Leah liked the movie so I was looking to see if it was the widescreen version or not. Low and behold… it’s a Bootleg from Hong Kong!
I’m accustomed to asian films and animation being bootlegged and sold in US stores, but I’m not accustomed to normal US releases making it back over here. It’s especially strange that they’re showing up in a regular chain store. Sure I’ve seen some occasionally at conventions, on websites, or at comic stores, but this is a pretty much middle class middle america bargain mart type store!
Has anyone else seen this? They had about 30 titles, mostly nothing anyone has ever heard of, but a few of note. All from the same publisher, labeled with HKSAR (a HK government organization?) All discs were All region!
