capsaicin on hands = bad
What did you do this weekend? Me? I gave myself some chemical burns!
*Edit*
Wow this must be pretty common, I’ve had a lot of hits from google on this story. Ok here’s some advice:
Wear gloves.
If it’s too late for that, there’s a few things you can do to get it off.
Very good degreasing soap, mechanic’s soap, oil (it’s oil soluable.), rubbing alchohol, lots and lots of water and scrubbing.
I did all of the above. None of those helps the burn, but helps get it off your hands so you don’t spread it or get it in your eyes. After that Milk, cold water, ice helps the burn. I’d suggest taking a benadryl in case of allergic reaction and having a nice iced martini or gin and tonic. The ice in the glass will help the hand while the alchohol will get you drunk.
The burning lasted about 4 hours for me, I did quite a bit of scrubbing to get it off quickly though.
