LJ starts down the road of myspace.
The new Terms of Service at LJ has a little clause in it that says if you are caught using adblocking software, or providing it/linking to it, they may immediately terminate your LJ account.
I believe right now it only applies to free LJ accounts, so really nothing lost if you are terminated, but it’d be frustrating I’m sure. This is kind of a bad omen here. LJ has been a nice place free of ads for a long time. I guess they can no longer support the service on paid accounts alone. While I don’t have any problem with them throwing ads on free accounts and such, it seems ridiculous for them to ban ad blocking. I say if you’re bright enough to block them, that’s their loss. It’s one thing to push out ads, it’s another to force them down people’s throats.
Hopefully it’s not as bad as it sounds.

It probably applies to the new sponsored level that has ads. Free users still don’t have ads, it’s only those who want to get more and not pay for it.
