The Blogosphere

There, I used that stupid buzzword. Are you happy, mass media?

How ironic that mass media is setting trends in directed media, or would it be personal media? What is a blog classified as anyway?

I added my blog to Technorati. Technorati is this sort of blog aggregator, it keeps track of your updates, who you link to, who’s linking to you, and lets people search all the blogs connected. It’s a good concept really, very much along the lines of what the web was initially intended to be–linked! I always thought the whole static linking of page to page was not so innovative, but now that we have sites like this things are actually becoming more like a web. Everything touches everything else in the great six degrees of Kevin Bacon. With internet tech being more robust, and protocols more versatile things are actually becoming… I don’t know, useful?

It seems the best way to get a blog connected is to be on one, or many of these aggregators and remain topical so more people find you in searches. I’m not really looking to be a major blog, this is more of a release valve and a way for friends and family to keep tabs (as I tend to be too busy or too forgetful to call them often enough.) Right now the top searches are Origami, Katrina, Video, Apple, Bush, iPod, Microsoft. Origami is the only one that surprises me.

If this is Web 2.0 then just wait till all the google nodes come aware and start running things for us. That should be interesting.
