Time Drain
I’ve decided to try and keep track of how much of my time Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 is wasting.
Here’s the start! It just crashed. I was debugging an application, stopped debugging *BOOM* all hell breaks loose, compiler crash, which in turn destroyed the IDE as well. Occured at 2:12 PM. I chose to send the error report, thinking hey MS can use all the help they can get right? Bad Idea.
2:22 PM, still going. Screw that I need to get work done. I cancel the error report.
2:25 PM, it’s still trying to cancel, I pop up ProcExplorer (thank you sysinternals.com,) and try to force a close
2:30 PM and 14 “don’t send error report” messages later, it finally closes.
2:33 PM I get back into the solution I was working on and can get back to work.
So that was over 10 minutes. I was working full on at that point, focused only on the task at hand.
What am I doing now you might ask? I’m waiting for the project to build…
