Good month for music.

I’ve received a lot of good music this month. It’s strange as I’ll go months on dry spells, and then suddenly a ton of good stuff falls into my lap. Maybe it’s seasonal?

I’ve been a bit more active searching out unsigned and/or unplayed bands to dig up good stuff than I have in the past and it’s paying off. Thank you apple and internet. I’m anxious to watch the old school labels adapt or crumble.

I found Dylan in the movies a while back, but just received their EP. It’s great. There’s only one song I don’t really like on it, and it’s not bad, it just doesn’t live up to the rest of the stuff on the release. They have a great sound, very mellow but with enough layers to keep it interesting. You can listen to the EP on their site for free, but can’t download it.

I also ran across (die) Pilot on a podcast. Similar in mellowness, but stylistically different. Also their album is freely downloadable from their site, so have at it.

An interesting brittish group popped up in my queue. Anemo. What first struck my interest is the single they’re pushing is called “Johny 5.” You know, Short Circuit? I loved that movie as a kid, so I gave it a listen. Well it’s got no similarities other than the name obviously, but I like the sound. You can download a couple singles from their site and give them a listen.

Last and not least, The Dreaming has released a new EP, and it’s better than the last. I wish these guys would just jump on iTunes, but they seem to be holding out for an oldschool label. I don’t know why… touring power I suppose.
