Laterns and Lazyness

This weekend was pretty fun. Went to the Obon festival at The Morikami. It was extremely packed this year :( But despite that it was still enjoyable because we met up with some friends and made fun of the masses. The festival was a little less organized this year, and the food prices seemed even more ridiculous than the previous year.

After the fireworks we headed down to Ft. Lauderdale to the George & Dragon where a Beatles cover band “Hello Goodbye,” was playing. They played pretty well, but the vocals could use some work. The pub itself was nice. Good pub grub available, prices weren’t too bad for the area. Great atmosphere. Despite there being a live band, the restaraunt side wasn’t deafening.

Talked with my parents and sister last night for the first time in a good while. My sister is such an anime addict now thanks to us. She’s seen stuff *I* haven’t seen yet. She doesn’t have broadband, so she only really gets stuff that’s already had a US release, but still… it’s just the priciple of it. Hopefully she’ll be able to come down when my parents do in October to visit.

On the anime note, last night we watched “The place promised in our early days,” by Makoto Shinkai. Wow. I think I’ll have to put a review up on OA.
