Into Vana`diel

Well it’s begun. Last night we installed our PS2 HDD complete with PS2 broadband adaptor, USB keyboard, FFXI, Playonline, etc. All I’ve gotta say is WH000!

Physical install was incredibly simplistic, though the documentation is complete crap. It’s totally obvious what goes where, and how but I guess there are enough idiots with PS2s to need pictures. Everything powered up and worked fine.

I’m not quite sure why there’s a network startup disc. This lets you configure your network and save your settings to a memory card. Sounds necessary, however PlayOnline has all that functionality built in as well, and they don’t communicate with each other.

We had to reinstall playonline viewer to get it to work, it took about 10 minutes total to do the install, download the updates from their servers and then configure. Having the keyboard really helps this along, especially when entering in your license keys.

FF11 had a lot of steps to get registered but after that everything was smooth. Logged on, created a character and started exploring the world. This place looks HUGE. We spent like 4 hours last night just doing a small job.. which we still haven’t completed. It was cool, though. Got a good feel for how to interact with NPCs and PCs. Joined a linkshell with some guy who seems to be playing in character which is cool.

Our character is Xaelah (Zay Lah).

We’re an Elvaan female red mage on the Ragnarok server, currently in San D’oria. If anyone wants to donate old equipment, extra magic, items, or gil, feel free! :)
